Job summary

Gregory Distribution in Bridgwater is looking for a Class 1 Casual Tramper to operate curtain-side or flatbed trailers and deliver to customers. You will ensure goods are loaded, secured, and transported safely, while providing outstanding customer service and real-time updates to the transport team.

The role offers casual, zero hours shifts with no guaranteed weekly hours. Weekday pay is £16.81 per hour and £20.81 per hour on weekends, with an additional £2.75 per hour for hours between 21:00

Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 (CE) Licence.
• DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card are required.
• Customer service skills and a positive attitude are essential.
• Excellent knowledge of local and national routes.
• Capable of working under deadlines and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate curtain-side or flatbed trailers to collect and deliver customer products.
• Load, secure and protect goods using straps and load-securing devices.
• Operate palletised handling equipment when required.
• Cover other areas of the business, including tanker work for bulk liquids.
• Provide professional customer service in person and by phone.
• Maintain clear communication with transport teams for real-time updates.

About the Role

• Operate curtain-side or flatbed trailers to safely collect and deliver customer products, ensuring all journeys are completed to a high standard.
• Ensure all goods are loaded, secured and protected using appropriate equipment such as straps, nets and other load-securing devices.
• Operate palletised handling equipment as and when required.
• Flexibility to cover other areas of the business. This includes work on tankers where you need to safely collect and deliver bulk liquid products to customers.
• Provide outstanding customer service, engaging professionally with clients both in person and over the phone to represent the company positively.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with the transport team, offering real-time updates to support smooth operations and manage customer expectations.
• Participate in regular training sessions to stay current with operational procedures, safety standards, and industry best practices.
