Job description

At HF we do things differently. We recognise the value of our employees and understand that they set us apart from our competitors.

So, if you want to experience what life is like at HF, take a look at our Claims Handler vacancy within our Outsourced Solutions Department, where you will be providing case management support on a variety of claims on behalf of the UK’s leading insurers.

We are looking to hear from individuals who are based near to our Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham, Southampton, or London offices.

What will you be doing?

The Claims department plays a crucial role in our business, handling claims whilst striving for the best customer experience in the UK insurer market. You will deliver a first-class experience to customers to get their claims dealt with quickly, which requires the support of specially trained, compassionate humans like you when our customers need it the most!

A day in the life of the Claims Handler will be extremely varied; one day you could be helping a customer solve a problem, and the next you could be using your amazing listening skills to ensure your customer receives the best advice.

Managing activity on all relevant aspects of claims to maximise cost control and to negotiate the optimum claim settlement, you will start by managing new claim registrations (FNOL/First Notification of Loss of Motor claims/Third Party claims) ensuring that all new claims are registered in accordance with specific service level agreements.

Then, instruct relevant suppliers/investigators at the outset of the claim, validating policy cover, ensuring clauses, warranties, and endorsements are considered, making an accurate liability assessment to manage customer expectations.

Throughout, you will proactively and professionally communicate with our customers and colleagues to manage expectations and achieve the most appropriate outcome, simultaneously managing insurer relationships to the highest standard.

What’s in it for you?

This is a real chance for you to shine and start a successful career in law. We have a strong reputation for developing and nurturing employees, and there are many opportunities for progression for you to have a rewarding and prosperous career at HF!

What do I need?

Effective communication/listening skills, a can-do attitude, and the ability to operate under pressure are key personal qualities that will enable success in this role. Customers typically only call insurers when they are at their most stressed, so being able to assist them in a clear, concise, friendly, and efficient way is paramount to providing the support they require.

Ideally, you will have a minimum of 12 months experience in a claim handling role, managing preferably a defendant or insurer caseload. Previous involvement using MOJ and OIC Portals would be advantageous, but not essential.

Above all, high-level customer service skills with an empathetic nature are critical factors for this role as we act for Insurers to lead the way in Customer Service and Cost Management.

This is what our Partner and Head of Outsourced Solutions, David, says about the role:

“As a continuously evolving, dynamic team, we proactively seek for our team members to grow and develop their skills both intrinsically within HF and extrinsically with clients to deliver better results. The HF approach is to support and empower teams to continue to build upon their existing skills, to work independently and take initiative handling their workload. We look forward to welcoming the successful candidate into our team; adding their knowledge and enthusiasm to our strong core.”
