Job description

Canopius has an established team of Property Binders underwriters and claims adjusters working collaboratively to provide exceptional customer service and innovative solutions to our clients.

The underwriting team provides insurance for a wide range of delegated authority coverages in North America, the United Kingdom, and globally. Coverage includes personal property, commercial property, commercial automobile property damage, and auto liability. Our underwriters are market-leading experts with extensive experience in their specialist areas. This variety of coverage offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work closely with internal and external stakeholders on claims across different risks, jurisdictions, and industries.

Canopius is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented claims professional to proactively adjust property binder claims from initial notification through settlement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop a thorough understanding of the claims within the portfolio.
  2. Proactively adjust claims within your authority and in line with Canopius Claims Vision and claims manual, ensuring high service levels and effective resolution.
  3. Maintain sufficient financial provisions according to Canopius reserving philosophy for all claims in your portfolio.
  4. Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, especially underwriters and actuaries.
  5. Manage delegated claims in accordance with Canopius’s claims values, overseeing TPAs/Service Providers through regular contact, peer reviews, and best practice sharing.
  6. Instruct and work with panel lawyers, adjusters, and experts to achieve optimal outcomes, control costs, and reduce claims leakage.
Skills and Experience
  1. Experience handling North American delegated authority claims.
  2. UK delegated claims handling experience is advantageous.
  3. Knowledge of policy coverage, negotiation skills, and claims strategy.
  4. Understanding of legal, regulatory, and territorial issues related to policy wordings.
  5. Ability to manage complex issues with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Knowledge of the Lloyd’s insurance market is a plus but not essential.
  7. Integrity, honesty, and fairness in conduct.
  8. Willingness to take responsibility and accountability.
  9. Commitment to the organization, team, and role.
