Job summary

American Society of Civil Engineers in York seeks a CIVIL & STRUCTURAL ENGINEER with a focus on highways and related civil projects. You will help design, develop and deliver practical solutions for a range of building and infrastructure projects while aiming to progress toward chartered status.

You should have a BSc in Civil/Structural Engineering with 1–3 years of UK experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and drainage software is preferred, and a driving licence is required for site

Qualifications

• Interest in highways and other project types
• 1–3 years experience with civil/structural engineers
• Working towards chartership or chartered status

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a CIVIL & STRUCTURAL ENGINEER with an interest in doing some work on HIGHWAYS and other projects to join our client based in YORK.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing firm of consulting engineers who offer the right candidates interesting projects to work on and good prospects for promotion.

You will help to design, develop and deliver solutions in civil engineering for highways and projects for a range of building projects for a good range of projects.

You will be keen to work towards becoming chartered.

THE CLIENT

Our client is a successful, growing firm of consulting engineers with a number of UK offices.

THE CANDIDATE

You will need to have experience of the following:

• You must have a BSc in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering and ideally have an MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering would be useful although not essential.
• The preferred candidate will have an interest in working on Highways projects along with other types of projects for various construction projects.
• You should have around one to three years experience or more with a firm of civil / structural consulting engineers.
• You are likely to either be working towards becoming chartered or be keen to work towards chartership.
• You should have experience in designing and detailing of drainage systems and external works.
• Experience of producing technical documentation to include Flood Risk Assessments and for Drainage Impact Assessments.
• You need some experience of doing on-site assessments as required.
• Experience of report writing to support planning applications and project delivery.
• You should have used Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D and Autodesk InfoDrainage (MicroDrainage) and ideally you will also be familiar with Site3D.
• You will report to a Senior or Principal Engineer.
• You must have worked in the UK for another firm of consulting engineers and have excellent knowledge and experience of using UK codes and regulations.
• A full UK driving licence is required along with your own vehicle to enable you to attend meetings and get to sites, some of which may be fairly remote.
