Job summary

Sapien Engineering are seeking a Project Engineer / Civil & Structural Engineer to join our team near Market Harborough. You will take projects from initial concept through to design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning, working hands-on with internal teams and customers.

The role requires strong technical skills, ownership of designs from concept to manufacture, and willingness to visit client sites for measurements and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD for engineering drawings.
• Ability to produce GA layouts and 3D models.
• Experience creating BOMs and working with ERP/MRP systems.
• Exposure to design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Produce 2D and 3D GA drawings and system layouts.
• Use SolidWorks and AutoCAD for design, detailing and drawings.
• Integrate in-house equipment with third-party machinery for plant layouts.
• Optimise layouts for space, material flow and performance.
• Develop designs through to Design Freeze and customer approval.
• Create manufacturing drawings from 3D models.
• Produce and manage BOMs within an ERP/MRP system.
• Attend customer sites for measurements, installation, commissioning and testing.
• Provide engineering support throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Prepare technical specifications, manuals and other engineering documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing designs and processes.
• Design platforms, stairs, access walkways, handrails, legs and chutes.
• Produce structural steel designs and calculations.

Sapien Engineering are looking for a Project Engineer / Civil & Structural Engineer to join our engineering client based in near Market Harborough.

The role will involve taking projects from initial concept through to design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning. The ideal candidate will be hands on, technically strong and commercially aware, with the ability to take ownership of projects and work closely with internal teams and customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce 2D and 3D General Arrangement (GA) drawings and system layouts.
• Use SolidWorks and AutoCAD for design, detailing and engineering drawings.
• Integrate in house equipment with third-party machinery to create complete plant layouts.
• Optimise layouts for space, material flow and overall performance.
• Develop designs through to Design Freeze and customer approval.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings from 3D models.
• Produce and manage BOMs within an ERP/MRP system.
• Work within project cost, quality and timescale requirements.
• Attend customer sites for measurements, installation, commissioning and testing.
• Provide engineering support throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Prepare technical specifications, manuals and other engineering documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing designs and manufacturing processes.

Structural Engineering Responsibilities

For the Structural Engineer element of the role:

• Design platforms, stairs, access walkways, handrails, legs and chutes.
• Produce structural steel designs and calculations.

Experience Required

• Strong experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Experience within engineering, manufacturing, machinery or special-purpose equipment.
• Experience producing GA drawings, layouts and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Understanding of sheet metal and fabrication design.
• Experience with BOMs and ERP/MRP systems.
• Ability to manage designs from concept through to manufacture and commissioning.
