Job summary

Full Circle Technical Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Civil / Structural CAD Technician to support a major water sector programme in Manchester on a hybrid basis.

You will produce 3D BIM models and 2D drawings using Revit and AutoCAD/Civil 3D, develop solutions from concept to detail, and work within a Common Data Environment.

This contract runs to February 2027 with potential extension; candidates must have UK work rights.

Qualifications

• Strong experience using Revit for 3D BIM modelling and drawing production.

Responsibilities

• Produce civil and structural design drawings, models and sketches for temporary and permanent works.
• Develop design solutions from concept through to detailed design under the direction of Senior, Principal and Lead Engineers.
• Produce 3D BIM models and 2D drawing outputs using Revit.
• Use Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD for relevant elements of civil design.
• Work effectively within a Common Data Environment (CDE).
• Produce designs and drawings covering foundations, below-ground infrastructure, drainage, cable ducting, steelwork and concrete structures.
• Ensure draughting activities are completed within agreed programme and budget requirements while maintaining technical quality.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering codes, standards and project procedures.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure interfaces are clearly defined and correctly incorporated.
• Liaise with engineers, project teams, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders where required.
• Support the continued development and implementation of BIM and digital design processes.

Civil / Structural CAD Technician - Water Sector

Location: Manchester / Hybrid

Duration: Contract until end of February 2027 initially - scope to be extended (workload permitting)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil / Structural CAD Technician/ Designer to support a major programme of work within the water sector.

Working as part of an established engineering team, you will be responsible for producing and developing civil and structural CAD design deliverables across a range of water infrastructure projects. This will include 3D models, technical drawings and sketches, working across projects from concept through to detailed design.

The role will be based from Manchester on a hybrid basis, with a combination of office and home working, along with occasional travel to other offices or project sites where required.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a CAD Designer, CAD Technician or similar within civil or structural engineering.

Ideally, you will have:

• Strong experience using Revit for 3D BIM modelling and drawing production.
• Experience using AutoCAD, with Autodesk Civil 3D experience highly desirable.
• Experience producing civil and structural designs and details for foundations, drainage, below-ground services, cable ducting, steelwork and concrete structures.
• Previous experience of reinforced concrete detailing would be advantageous.
• Experience working within a Common Data Environment.
• Knowledge of relevant civil and structural engineering standards and design procedures.
• Experience within the water, utilities, infrastructure or a similar process engineering environment would be beneficial.
• Experience of clash detection, 4D simulation or construction sequencing software would also be advantageous.
• A City & Guilds, HNC, HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
• EngTech or IEng professional registration would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary design teams.

This is an initial contract running until the end of February 2027, with the potential for extension depending on ongoing project workload.
