Job summary

Carey Group in the UK is seeking a Site Engineer to join our civil engineering team on major schemes. You will own on-site delivery elements and work with senior engineers to develop your skills.

You will set out, inspect, interpret drawings, manage documentation, and supervise junior staff with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. A clear development path and permanent, full-time employment are offered.

Qualifications

• HNC in Civil or Structural Engineering or higher is required.
• Around 4 years’ experience on major civil projects.
• Strong surveying, setting-out and engineering fundamentals.
• Able to interpret drawings, reports and specs.
• Proficient with AutoCAD/BricsCAD and MS Office tools.
• Experience inspecting materials and conducting tests.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong health and safety awareness on site.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and precise dimensional control using surveying tools.
• Check accuracy on site, ensure works meet specs and tolerances.
• Identify extra works, support commercial processes and contract obligations.
• Interpret drawings, coordinate information, raise RFIs as needed.
• Manage and update drawings, specs, and as-built documentation.
• Supervise junior engineers, operatives and subcontractors on site.
• Implement quality procedures, prepare ITPs, perform inspections and NCRs.
• Support environmental compliance and site environmental plans.
• Monitor progress, assist short-term planning, prepare material take-offs.
• Assist with temporary works design and related briefs.
