Job summary

Careys is seeking a proactive Site Engineer in Wigan to lead civil engineering activities on major schemes. You will set out works with precision, interpret technical drawings, and support contract obligations while managing document control and QA processes.

You will work with senior engineers to deliver safe, compliant, and quality construction. The role offers growth through real responsibility and clear development pathways within the UK civils market.

Qualifications

• HNC in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Around 4 years’ experience on major civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of surveying, setting out, and engineering principles.
• Skilled in interpreting drawings, technical reports, and specifications.
• Competent with AutoCAD/BricsCAD, Word, Excel, and document control systems.
• Experience in inspecting and testing construction materials.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and providing precise dimensional control using surveying equipment.
• Checking accuracy on site and ensuring works meet specification.
• Interpreting drawings, coordinating construction information, and raising RFIs.
• Managing and updating drawings, specs, and as‑built information.
• Supervising junior engineers, operatives, and subcontractors to ensure safe delivery.
