Job summary

The University of Manchester invites applications from outstanding candidates to lead research and teaching in civil engineering hydrodynamics. The post focuses on numerical simulation, experimental investigations and disruptive technologies across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

You will collaborate with diverse teams, supervise research students, publish in leading journals, and contribute to cross-University and international partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Educated to PhD level or equivalent in civil engineering hydrodynamics.
  • Demonstrate capability to conduct outstanding research in civil engineering hydrodynamics and/or experience in the development and application of numerical simulation, experimental investigation and data science techniques for civil engineering hydrodynamics.
  • Ability to lecture to large classes and supervise group and individual projects at Masters and undergraduate level.

Responsibilities

  • Development and delivery of internationally excellent research in civil engineering hydrodynamics, in developing computational and/or experimental programmes.
  • Supervision of postgraduate research students and researchers.
  • Publication of research in leading journals and presentation at international conferences and in other fora relevant to stakeholders and end-users of the research.
  • Undertaking teaching duties (including but not limited to assessment, academic advising and project supervision) within the University on undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
  • Contribution to relevant service duties, commensurate with the level of appointment, to support efficient operation of the organisation.
