Job summary

First Recruitment Group is seeking a Civil Field Supervisor to lead on-site civil construction activities on a contract basis in Immingham. You will provide field-based discipline leadership and ensure safe installation and commissioning of equipment in line with approved designs and schedules.

The role requires hands-on supervision of contractor teams, conducting safety audits, managing permits, reviewing progress and QA/QC, and coordinating with project planners to keep work on track and

Job description

Lead the safe and successful delivery of civil construction activities, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, compliantly and to the highest quality standards.

Our Client has a requirement for a Civil Field Supervisor, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Immingham.

Role Purpose:

• Provide field-based discipline leadership for civil construction activities.
• Ensure the safe installation and commissioning of equipment in line with approved designs and project schedules.
• Act as the key site representative for contractor supervision, safety performance and construction quality.
• Support project delivery through effective planning, coordination and issue resolution.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for contractor safety performance on site.
• Complete weekly Level 1 safety audits and Behavioural Based Safety observations.
• Act as a first point of contact for contractor safety concerns and support their resolution.
• Review and approve permit documentation submitted by contractors.
• Ensure contractor daywork sheets and contract variations are submitted and processed in a timely manner.
• Review and challenge contractor claims where necessary before approval.
• Carry out job stepping activities based on design drawings and communicate requirements to schedulers.
• Review project plans and ensure all required activities are captured.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure project plans accurately reflect site status.
• Develop a detailed understanding of work scopes to ensure installation activities are completed correctly and efficiently.
• Support the development of execution plans and coordinate enabling activities such as scaffolding works.
• Ensure enabling activities are completed in a timely manner to avoid delays.
• Resolve field conflicts quickly and effectively.
• Manage technical queries through the project system and resolve minor issues directly on site where appropriate.
• Conduct pre-start-up safety review checks.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved design drawings.
• Verify that QA/QC documentation is completed, maintained and readily available.
• Ensure work areas are left in a suitable condition for handover to operations.
• Provide specialist authorised person responsibilities where applicable.
• Support commissioning activities following project completion.
• Provide supervision during turnaround periods covering both project and maintenance scopes.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Qualified trade background.
• Strong construction and installation knowledge.
• Experience supervising contractors and contractor workforces within industrial environments.
• Discipline-specific expertise within civil construction activities.
• Working knowledge of health and safety legislation.
• Planning and scheduling knowledge.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills.
• Computer literate with experience using standard business software applications.
• Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and construction documentation.
• Experience monitoring project progress and coordinating field activities.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• CCNSG Safety Passport.
• LATS certification and/or IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
