Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment in Greater Manchester seeks an experienced Estimator to join a Civil Engineering and Infrastructure business. You will support pre-construction tendering across land remediation, highways and environmental projects, and help secure profitable bids.

The role demands commercial awareness, attention to detail and the ability to build rates from first principles, manage subcontractor packages and contribute to value engineering.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in an Estimator role within Civil Engineering, Infrastructure or Groundworks.
• Strong understanding of estimating principles and tendering processes.
• Ability to produce rates from first principles.
• Experience managing subcontractor and supplier packages.
• Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Competent with estimating software and Microsoft Office packages.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates, tenders and budget cost plans.
• Build rates from first principles using technical and commercial knowledge.
• Manage subcontractor and supplier enquiries and assessments.
• Identify, evaluate and manage tender risks and opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with Pre-Construction, Commercial and Operational teams.
• Produce detailed and competitive tender submissions.
• Develop and maintain key assumptions and risk registers.
• Attend and lead Tender Launches, Settlements and Handover meetings.
• Support post-award project handovers to delivery teams.
• Contribute to value engineering exercises and cost-saving initiatives.
• Produce accurate quantity take-offs where required.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
