Job summary

A Team Recruitment EA Limited in Colchester is seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to join a growing engineering consultancy. The role involves producing detailed civil drawings from concept to construction, working with engineers, architects, contractors and clients.

You will use AutoCAD and Civils 3D, support highway and drainage design, and help ensure drawings meet project standards and deadlines.

Qualifications

• HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in a civil engineering consultancy or similar environment.
• Strong AutoCAD skills and good general IT knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Producing accurate and detailed civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD and relevant design software
• Preparing drawings for highways, drainage, external works and private drainage schemes
• Producing technical drawings for planning, tender, technical approval, construction and as-built stages
• Assisting with the design of highways and infrastructure works
• Preparing and developing drainage layouts and associated details
• Supporting S38 and S278 highway submissions
• Supporting S104, S106 and S185 drainage and sewer-related submissions
• Working with engineers to develop designs and technical solutions
• Liaising with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities and other consultants
• Carrying out site visits and surveys where required
• Maintaining accurate drawing registers and project documentation
• Ensuring drawings and designs comply with relevant standards, regulations and project requirements
• Working to project deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and quality
• Applying relevant Health & Safety requirements, including CDM Regulations

Job description

Civil Engineering Technician required to join our growing client, a well-established engineering consultancy based in Colchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineering Technician to join a busy and growing team, working on a varied range of residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects. You will be involved in producing detailed civil engineering drawings and designs from concept through to construction, working closely with engineers, architects, contractors, clients and local authorities. The ideal candidate will have strong AutoCAD skills, a good understanding of highways and drainage design and excellent attention to detail.

The Role

The Person

• HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Previous experience working within a civil engineering consultancy or similar environment
• Strong AutoCAD skills and good general IT knowledge
• Working knowledge of Civils 3D, Site3D and/or similar civil engineering design software
• Experience producing highways, drainage and external works drawings
• Good understanding of UK highways and drainage design principles
• Knowledge of S38, S278, S104, S106 and S185 processes would be advantageous
• Good understanding of relevant UK design standards and codes of practice
• Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients, contractors and local authorities
• Well organised with the ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
• Able to work effectively as part of a team
• A flexible and practical approach to design and problem solvingFull UK driving licence
