Job summary

Macstaff is recruiting for a Project Manager / Construction Project Manager near Newton Abbot, Devon to deliver civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK. You will manage programmes, budgets, quality and client liaison from mobilisation to handover.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent) with proven delivery of civil/construction projects, NEC/JCT contracts, RAMS and subcontractor management, leading planning, risk control and reporting.

Qualifications

• To succeed as Project Manager, you will ideally have a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification, alongside experience delivering civil engineering, construction or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience managing or delivering civil engineering and infrastructure construction projects.
• Strong project planning, organisation, coordination and communication skills.
• Sound commercial awareness, including budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting and financial control.
• Working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT construction contracts.
• Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and client relationships.
• Good understanding of CDM 2015, construction site safety and quality standards.
• Competence with Microsoft Excel and construction programming software.
• A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving and project delivery.
• Full UK driving licence and flexibility for occasional UK travel and overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil engineering and construction projects to agreed programmes, budgets and quality standards.
• Lead project planning, mobilisation, construction delivery and successful handover.
• Act as the principal day-to-day contact for clients, attending progress meetings and providing regular updates.
• Procure, appoint and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring performance and payments.
• Manage project budgets, cost reporting, financial forecasts, valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Administer NEC and/or JCT construction contracts, including variations, early warnings and compensation events.
• Develop, monitor and maintain construction programmes and project schedules.
• Prepare and review RAMS, ensuring CDM 2015 and safety compliance.
• Liaise with designers to resolve technical queries and manage design changes.
• Coordinate project completion, handover documentation, as-built information and quality records.
