Job summary

Durham County Council is offering an Apprenticeship as a Civil Engineering Technician. You will work across Transport Services and Strategic Traffic Management, gaining hands‑on experience in urban and rural traffic, infrastructure design and maintenance, safety audits and design reviews.

The programme supports study toward a Level 3 qualification in Civil Engineering, progressing to Level 4 with New College Durham.

Qualifications

• GCSE/Level 3 equivalent qualifications with English, Maths and a Science subject or equivalent.
• Good communication and problem‑solving skills; ability to work as part of a team.
• Interest in civil engineering and traffic management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the Strategic Traffic team and assist in urban and rural traffic projects.
• Assist with transport infrastructure design and maintenance, safety audits and design reviews.
• Contribute to sustainable transport schemes and initiatives.
