Job summary

Arup Leeds is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team. You will contribute to site development, drainage planning, utilities coordination, and high-profile civil projects with a focus on sustainable outcomes.

You’ll work across disciplines, engage with clients and stakeholders, and progress toward professional chartership. This role emphasizes digital design, BIM, and collaborative problem solving in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in civil engineering design and project delivery.
  • Proficiency with design software such as Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD or similar packages.
  • Interest in digital design, BIM and automation within engineering delivery.
  • Proactive and adaptable problem solving.
  • Progression toward or chartership would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the design and delivery of civil engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated and sustainable design solutions.
  • Producing technical designs, drawings and reports to a high standard.
  • Engaging with clients, stakeholders and project teams to develop practical outcomes.
  • Taking ownership of defined elements of projects and ensuring quality control.
  • Contributing to the development of digital engineering and BIM-led design approaches.

The Opportunity

Arup’s Civil Engineering team is looking to recruit a Civil Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team in the Leeds office. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment delivering projects that help shape sustainable, resilient and inclusive communities across the UK.

Our portfolio spans a wide range of sectors and scales, including city centre regeneration, active travel and public realm improvements, rail and transport infrastructure, healthcare and education developments, data centres, utilities, flood alleviation and major residential and mixed‑use schemes. Many of our projects are high profile and technically challenging, with a strong focus on sustainability, digital innovation and delivering positive social impact.

We work across the full project lifecycle, from early‑stage advisory and concept development through to detailed design and construction support. Our clients include local authorities, government agencies, contractors, developers, utility providers and transport organisations. What you’ll be doing

What we are looking for

  • Progression toward or achievement of professional chartership (ICE or equivalent) would be advantageous
