Then come and join us at Stantec!

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join us in Newcastle. We are looking for someone with expertise in civil engineering design to deliver multi-disciplinary projects throughout their lifecycle – from feasibility, concept, and planning submission to construction details and site inspections.

Our projects are varied and often require collaboration with multiple discipline experts across the business.

You will play a key role in delivering civil engineering planning and design solutions, preparing plans and drawings at all stages of the development cycle, and designing earthworks, internal site roads, pavements, and drainage.

You will work with clients and contractors to influence infrastructure and development schemes and will be responsible for delivering projects, with opportunities to lead, develop, and support junior team members.

As a key member of our Infrastructure team, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Delivering a variety of civil engineering planning and design solutions
  2. Preparing plans and drawings from concept through to construction
  3. Designing earthworks, internal site roads, pavements, drainage, and preparing related specifications
  4. Collaborating with clients and contractors to shape infrastructure and development schemes
  5. Managing project delivery, including leading and developing team members
  6. Ensuring high-quality design delivery through QA checks
  7. Liaising with Local Authorities and stakeholders for approvals
  8. Delegating and supervising work of junior team members and coaching
  9. Communicating with clients, third parties, and multidisciplinary teams on project aspects

Key Requirements:

You should be an experienced Civil Engineer, preferably degree-qualified, ideally working towards professional accreditation.

You must have proven experience in delivering successful projects with strong client engagement and influencing skills. Experience in coaching and managing junior engineers, as well as collaborating within project teams, is highly desirable.

Additional advantageous experience includes:

  • Producing Drainage Strategies for Planning
  • Sustainable drainage solutions for building developments
  • Earthworks modelling (or an interest in learning)
  • Pavement design (or an interest in learning)
  • Infodrainage and AutoCAD/Civils 3D (or similar tools)
