Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Civil Engineer in Birmingham to join a respected consultancy delivering residential and commercial development projects. You will work on private and adoptable drainage design from concept to technical approval, supporting senior staff and liaising with clients and authorities.

The role offers progression within a well-established civil engineering team, the opportunity to develop expertise in S38/S278/S104, and a benefits package including hybrid working,

Qualifications

• Degree qualified Civil Engineer.
• Three to four years UK experience in drainage and highways design.
• Confident using AutoCAD, PDS or Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
• Strong communication, numeracy and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed foul and surface water drainage designs using MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
• Prepare S38, S278 and S104 technical submissions.
• Create engineering drawings using AutoCAD with PDS or Civil 3D.
• Liaise with clients, council officers and internal design teams.
• Support feasibility studies, technical reports and project documentation.
• Contribute to planning coordination and quality assurance activities.
• Develop technical capability through project-based learning and structured training.
