Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Civil Engineer in Birmingham to join a respected consultancy delivering residential and commercial development projects. You will work on private and adoptable drainage design from concept to technical approval, supporting senior staff and liaising with clients and authorities.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified Civil Engineer.
• Three to four years UK experience in drainage and highways design.
• Confident using AutoCAD, PDS or Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
• Strong communication, numeracy and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed foul and surface water drainage designs using MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
• Prepare S38, S278 and S104 technical submissions.
• Create engineering drawings using AutoCAD with PDS or Civil 3D.
• Liaise with clients, council officers and internal design teams.
• Support feasibility studies, technical reports and project documentation.
• Contribute to planning coordination and quality assurance activities.

Civil Engineer

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 plus benefits

I am recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join a respected consultancy in Birmingham delivering residential and commercial development projects. This is a strong opportunity for a Civil Engineer with solid drainage and infrastructure design experience who wants progression within a supportive, well established civil engineering team.

This Civil Engineer role focuses on private and adoptable drainage design from concept through to technical approval. As a Civil Engineer, you will work closely with senior staff, contribute to S38, S278 and S104 submissions and build valuable client-facing experience. You will liaise with clients, local authority officers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth coordination across all project stages.
