Job summary

Breedon Group plc in Lisburn seeks an experienced Assistant Contracts Manager to join our Civil Engineering team and drive successful delivery of framework contracts and major projects across the Western and Southern Region. This role oversees scoping, planning, programming and operational delivery, with responsibility for the full contract lifecycle, client management and commercial performance.

Qualifications

• Third-level qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of five years’ management experience in civil engineering projects or contracts.
• Proven people-management and leadership capabilities.
• Good commercial understanding and ability to manage costs and performance.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction materials, methods and plant.
• Experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to identify problems and develop practical solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day management and performance of contracts and projects.
• Scope, plan, programme and deliver multiple civil works and frameworks.
• Lead Contracts Supervisors and Engineers; ensure resources are aligned.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with standards.
• Manage costs, monitor performance against budgets and tender allowances.
• Prepare CVRs and subcontractor payments; oversee invoicing of works.
• Maintain commercial and operational records; collaborate with teams.
• Engage with Tendering and Estimating on quotations and bids.
• Represent Breedon at client meetings and manage project issues proactively.
• Build strong client relationships and coordinate with supply chain.
