Job summary

Astute People’s power team seeks a Civil Construction Manager for a West Midlands site on a long-term, on-site contract. You will oversee civil works, verify RAMS, and manage the supervision team to deliver in line with schedule, budget and quality requirements.

The role requires a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree, and proven experience in heavy civil projects or Energy from Waste, with SMSTS and CSCS/Safe Pass or equivalent certifications.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent.
• Proven experience as Civil Supervisor, Civil Superintendent or Construction Manager on heavy civil projects or Energy from Waste.
• Certifications: SMSTS and CSCS/CCNS/SCC/Safe Pass or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Review RAMS and ensure civil works are safe and compliant with procedures.
• Oversee civil construction activities to meet contractual, schedule, budget and quality targets.
• Own Civil Turnover Package definitions, QC inspections, and verification of works.
• Define and lead Civil Supervision Team and coordinate with contractors and stakeholders, reporting progress.

Job description

Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading business in the Energy from Waste sector to recruit a Civil Construction Manager for its West Midlands site.

This long-term contract role is on site and offers a competitive day rate, Outside IR35.

Responsibilities of the Civil Construction Manager

Reporting to the Construction Manager on site you will:

• Review and verify Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), ensuring all civil works are executed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
• Oversee civil construction activities, ensuring delivery in line with contractual obligations, project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Take ownership of Civil Turnover Package definitions, quality control inspections, and verification of completed works against project scope and specifications.
• Define and lead the Civil Supervision Team, coordinating with contractors and project stakeholders while providing accurate construction progress reporting.

Candidates must have a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.

Must have proven experience as a Civil Supervisor, Civil Superintendent or Construction Manager within heavy civil engineering projects or essentially Energy from Waste.

Must hold a valid SMSTS, CSCS/CCNS/SCC/Safe pass or equivalent.
