Job summary

The Parish of St Alban & St Stephen is seeking a Site Supervisor in Greater London to look after church buildings, parish centre, presbytery and grounds. The role is part-time (15 hours a week) with occasional out-of-hours emergency response, primarily independent work and a requirement to undertake health and safety training.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, safety checks, liaising with contractors, minor repairs, coordinating volunteers, and ensuring site security and

• Previous experience in a caretaking, facilities, maintenance or similar role
• Practical problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the church buildings and grounds
• Carry out routine safety checks and keep accurate records
• Ensure fire safety equipment, emergency lighting and escape routes remain compliant
• Liaise with contractors and oversee works on site
• Undertake minor repairs and maintenance
• Report larger repairs to the Parish Priest or Parish Administrator
• Support and coordinate volunteer cleaning teams
• Open and secure buildings, set alarms and follow site security procedures
• Monitor external areas and take action during adverse weather
• Support statutory inspections and maintenance programmes
• Monitor and replenish cleaning, kitchen, toilet and sacristy supplies
• Record utility meter readings
