Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Generator Field Service Engineer to maintain, diagnose, repair and optimise its CHP spark ignition biogas engines across sites in the Thames Valley, Home Counties and London area.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on engine experience, a UK driving licence and qualifications in mechanical engineering. The role offers site-based work, standby rota payments and overtime opportunities, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience with maintenance and diagnostics of internal combustion engines.
• Ability to operate engine/generator controls such as ComAp, DIA.NE and TEM Evo.
• Full UK driving licence.
• NVQ/ C&G or an engine manufacturer qualification in mechanical engineering.
• Electrical qualification is an advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Hands-on experience with CHP, gas engines and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance of CHP Spark Ignition generators.
• Diagnose and repair engine and generator systems to optimise performance.
• Work with CHP support staff and suppliers to minimise downtime and stay within budget.
• Complete service records and reports accurately and promptly.
• Identify required parts, lubricants and waste for service orders.
• Uphold health, safety and wellbeing in all tasks.
• Deliver excellent customer service and share knowledge with teammates.
