Job summary

Thames Water is hiring a Generator Field Service Engineer to maintain and optimise CHP spark-ignition biogas engines across Thames Valley, Home Counties and London areas. The role requires hands-on diagnostics, parts planning, and safety-first work practices. 45-hour weeks, standby and overtime options, and a company van on duty.

Base location could be any Thames Water site within the region. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of internal combustion engines, strong diagnostic skills,

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of operation and maintenance of internal combustion engines.
• Ability to diagnose engine, generator and related systems thoroughly and methodically.
• Ability to operate/optimise assets using engine/generator controls (ComAp, DIA.NE, TEM Evo).
• Ability to work to a high level of quality, both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance of CHP Spark Ignition generators across a region.
• Coordinate with support staff and suppliers to ensure safe, timely work within budget.
• Complete service records and reports accurately and promptly.
• Identify parts, lubricants and waste for orders.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety and wellbeing.
