Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking an experienced CHP Engineer to service, maintain and commission CHP systems across the UK. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults on CHP units, gas engines, generators or industrial engines, and work directly with customers to ensure reliable operation.

You will travel nationwide, perform preventative maintenance, handle breakdowns and support engine overhauls, with manufacturer training and career progression on offer.

Qualifications

• Experience working on CHP systems, gas engines, generators or industrial power generation equipment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel throughout the UK and stay away when required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on CHP units.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Attend reactive breakdowns and emergency call-outs.
• Carry out servicing, component replacement and major maintenance.
• Commissioning and recommissioning CHP units.
• Fault-finding across engines, generators, control systems and related equipment.
• Use diagnostic equipment and drawings to identify faults.
• Complete service reports and technical documentation.
• Work with customers to ensure equipment operates reliably and efficiently.
• Support major engine overhauls and refurbishment projects.
• Collaborate with the wider technical team to resolve complex issues.

CHP Engineer

We are currently working with a leading business within the energy and power generation sector, who are looking to add an experienced CHP Engineer to their growing UK team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with experience working on CHP, gas engines, generators or similar power generation equipment to join an established organisation and work on a variety of technically challenging projects across the UK.

As a CHP Engineer, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, fault-finding and commissioning of CHP systems at customer sites across the UK.

The role will involve:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on CHP units.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Attending reactive breakdowns and emergency call-outs.
• Carrying out servicing, component replacement and major maintenance.
• Commissioning and recommissioning CHP units.
• Fault-finding across engines, generators, control systems and associated equipment.
• Using diagnostic equipment and electrical/mechanical drawings to identify faults.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering background, ideally with experience working on CHP systems, gas engines, generators or industrial power generation equipment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a CHP Engineer, Generator Engineer, Engine Technician or similar.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working with gas engines, generators or industrial engines.
• The ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• A customer-focused approach.
• The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to travel throughout the UK and stay away when required.
