Job summary

Astute People in partnership with a global engineering company is recruiting a Field Service Engineer to support biogas upgrading technology across the UK Southeast and beyond. You will bolster a team that maintains and installs industrial equipment in CHP and gas engine contexts.

This role offers a salary up to £45,000 plus a company van, fuel card, on-call and overnight allowances, overtime and specialist technical training.

Qualifications

• Strong practical engineering background with fault-finding experience.
• Experience in a field service role and comfort with regular travel.
• Solid understanding of industrial control systems and instrumentation would be hugely beneficial.
• Valid driving licence with no or few points preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance across sites nationwide as part of a team.
• Fault-finding across industrial equipment including valves, pumps, compressors, pneumatic systems and related gear.
• Diagnose electrical faults involving PLCs, instrumentation, sensors, inverters and control systems where possible.
• Produce maintenance documentation and reporting when required.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and act on them.

Astute's Renewable Energy Team are proudly partnered with a company to recruit a couple of Field Service Engineers for them. They're a global player with a significant presence in the UK and a growing presence in Ireland, who are looking for people who would be living in the Southeast but open to travelling to the UK as well. The role will suit someone who is technically strong and who would like to learn more about biogas upgrading (if you don't already) and are likely from the CHP or gas engine sector.

The Field Service Engineer role comes with a fantastic all round package, including a salary of up to €49,000 plus a van, fuel card, overtime, on-call allowance, accommodation and meals for overnight stays and more. You would also receive specific product training on the biomethane upgrading technology.

Responsibilities and duties of the Field Service Engineer role

Reporting to the Field Service Manager you will:

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of sites, as part of a team, nationwide
• Fault-finding across industrial equipment including valves, pumps, compressors, pneumatic systems and all associated equipment
• Diagnosing electrical faults involving PLCs, instrumentation, sensors, inverters and control systems where possible
• Produce the appropriate maintenance documentation and reporting when required
• Looking for continuous improvement possibilities at all times, proactively looking for improvements
• Assist on installation projects when required
• Other duties as required

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• A strong practical engineering background with proven fault-finding experience
• Experience in a field service role and comfortable with staying away regularly
• A solid understanding of industrial control systems and instrumentation would be hugely beneficial
• A full and valid driving licence, huge preference to have no points

Personal skills

The Field Service Engineer role would suit someone who is:

• Able to travel with a great degree of flexibility and someone who is happy to go across to the UK too
• Able to work independently and be a strong problem solver
• Someone who is open to overtime as if a problem needs fixing there and then, the job will require finishing prior to leaving
• Strong with HSE awareness

Salary and benefits of the Field Service Engineer role

• Up to £45,000 basic salary, depending on experience
• Company van and fuel card (for personal use too)
• On call allowance, overnight allowance, hotels and meals covered
• Overtime paid up to 1.5x hourly rate
