Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Service Technician to service, maintain and repair chillers and HVAC equipment at client sites. The role is primarily based at Heathrow Airport, with occasional travel to other UK locations.

You will perform PPM tasks, diagnose issues, and provide clear recommendations while prioritising safety. Relevant NVQ Level 2 in HVAC (Level 3 desirable), F-GAS Cat 1, and a driving licence are essential. Overtime and a comprehensive benefits package are included.

Qualifications

• HVAC qualification such as NVQ Level 2 or equivalent; Level 3 is desirable
• Proven service engineer experience in air conditioning
• F-GAS 2079 Cat 1 qualification
• Experience with chillers, DX, Split & VRV systems, AHUs/ventilation
• Electrical and controls experience to diagnose and fix issues
• Able to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Service, maintenance and repair of chillers and HVAC equipment at client sites
• Carry out system PPMs in line with contract requirements and safety standards
• Troubleshoot faults, diagnose issues and recommend improvements or upgrades
• Travel to client locations across the UK; work primarily at Heathrow Airport

What You Will Do

As an HVAC Service Technician, your day-to-day role will include service, maintenance and repair work on various chillers and other HVAC equipment installed at our clients’ facilities. This is a primarily static role based at Heathrow Airport but may require occasional travel to different client locations across the UK. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving technical service issues within a set timeframe and according to a defined process, service agreement and customer needs. You will carry out system PPM as per contract requirements, communicating clearly findings and any further actions required or recommendations for system improvement, upgrades or optimisations. Health and Safety will be at the forefront of everything you do.

What We Look For

• Recognised HVAC qualification: NVQ level 2 or equivalent (NVQ level 3 not essential but desirable)
• Proven experience in the service engineer role within the air conditioning industry.
• F-GAS 2079 Cat 1 qualification.
• Experience & working knowledge with Chillers, DX, Split & VRV systems, AHUs & ventilation plant.
• Experience working with major manufacturers such as York, Trane, Carrier, Daikin, Hitachi, and Mitsubishi Electric.
• Electrical and controls experience to be able to identify and rectify electrical and control issues.
• Understanding of relevant technical documents such as electrical schemes, fluid schemes, piping diagrams, psychometric diagrams.
• Capable of working without documented procedures and with limited supervision.
• A committed can-do positive attitude with the ability to integrate and work as a member of a team.
• A full UK driving license.
