Job summary

Shirley Baptist Church in Southampton is seeking a full-time Children, Youth and Family Worker to lead and develop a thriving ministry for children, youth and families on Sundays and during the week, both in church and the local community.

You will recruit, train and support a committed team, create new activities and initiatives, and share the gospel in clear, engaging ways while using modern technology and online platforms. A Christian faith statement is required.

This is an exciting opportunity for a FULL TIME (PERMANENT) Children, Youth and Family Worker at Shirley Baptist Church in Southampton.

We are a mid-sized multinational church on the New Forest side of the city of Southampton.

We have a growing number of children, youth and families and we are looking to appoint someone to lead and develop a thriving ministry on Sundays and throughout the week to these groups, both in the church and the local community. This will involve developing new activities and initiatives.

The successful person will be able to enter wholeheartedly into this task and help us make church a place where children, youth and families are invited, welcomed and given the opportunity to encounter God in their lives. We are looking for someone to share our passion to see our children and youth come to faith and grow in a relationship with Jesus.

The successful candidate will:

• Have a heart for the gospel and a lifestyle to match.
• Believe the Bible and want to teach it to all children and youth in clear, creative, engaging and relevant ways.
• Have previous experience of working with children, youth and families.
• Have led, organised and developed this or a similar ministry area.
• Be able to lead, support and train a committed team currently serving in this ministry area.
• Have good communication and leadership skills, be able to develop strong working relationships with others and gain commitment from them to new initiatives and approaches.
• Be confident with using modern technology and relevant online platforms.

There is a genuine Occupational Requirement that the successful candidate is a committed Christian and affirms our statement of faith. A successful appointment will be subject to references and an Enhanced DBS check. You must also have the right to work in the UK.
