Job summary

Brent Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join Brent’s Children and Young People with Disabilities Team. You will assess, plan and implement practical specialist solutions to support independence and participation for children with substantial disabilities.

You will undertake comprehensive OT assessments, recommend equipment and adaptations, and work closely with families, schools and health professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with experience in comprehensive OT assessments.
• Ability to develop practical, evidence-based solutions around equipment, moving and handling, and adaptations.
• Experience working with families, schools and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Undertake specialist functional assessments considering the needs of children and families.
• Recommend equipment, seating and minor adaptations to support independence and safety.
• Conduct moving and handling assessments and develop appropriate plans.
• Contribute to major home adaptations with Housing colleagues, surveyors and architects.
• Work with families, schools and health professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
• Manage a varied caseload of children and young people with complex needs.
