Job summary

The London Borough of Brent is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join Brent’s Children and Young People with Disabilities Team, supporting children with substantial physical, cognitive and sensory disabilities.

You’ll undertake specialist OT assessments, recommend equipment and adaptations, and work with families, schools and other agencies to promote independence and participation. A HCPC-registered OT with strong communication skills is essential.

Qualifications

• HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with appropriate clinical experience.
• Experience undertaking comprehensive OT assessments for children.
• Ability to develop practical, evidence-based equipment and adaptation plans.
• Strong communicator with families, schools and health professionals.

Responsibilities

• Undertake specialist functional assessments for children and families.
• Recommend equipment, seating and minor adaptations to support independence and safety.
• Undertake moving and handling assessments and develop plans.
• Contribute to major home adaptations in collaboration with Housing colleagues, surveyors and architects.
• Collaborate with families, schools, health professionals and other agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
• Manage a varied caseload of children and young people with complex needs.
