KHR - Recruitment Specialists is seeking dedicated Children’s Home Support Workers in the Maidstone area, Kent. This permanent, part-time role supports vulnerable young people aged 8-18 with compassionate, high-quality care tailored to individual needs.

You will promote independence, personal development and emotional wellbeing, while working within a structured residential setting and attending healthcare appointments as needed.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in childcare or health and social care is essential.
  • Driving license and a vehicle are desirable.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a relevant care setting.
  • Experience supporting children with emotional, behavioural, social difficulties, mental health needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care tailored to individual needs for young people aged 8-18.
  • Ensure safety, stability and nurturing environment while promoting independence.
  • Attend healthcare appointments and report follow-ups.
  • Contribute to a positive 24-hour learning environment.

Job description

Role: Children’s Home Support Workers
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £12.92-£13.10ph (Circa £27k) + Bonus
Locations: Maidstone Area, Kent (Multiple Locations)
Hours: 3 Shifts Per Week (2 for Part-Time) / 8am-8:30pm or 8pm-8:30am (you receive your rota 4-6 weeks in advance and your shifts tend to be grouped together)

Our client, a well-established children’s residential provider, is seeking dedicated and compassionate Children’s Home Support Workers to support vulnerable young people aged 8-18. This role involves creating a safe, stable, and nurturing environment while promoting independence, personal development, and emotional wellbeing.

The Role – Children’s Home Support Workers

You will provide high-quality care tailored to individual needs, ensuring that all young people are treated with respect, and given opportunities to make choices about their lives.

Key Responsibilities of a qualified Children’s Home Support Worker
  • – Support young people with health, medical, and physical care needs
  • – Arrange and attend healthcare appointments, ensuring appropriate follow-up reporting
  • – Contribute to a positive 24-hour learning environment
  • – Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive living environment at all times
  • – Supervise and support young people during daily routines, including before/after education and mealtimes
  • – Encourage independence, including developing practical life skills such as cooking
  • – Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies
  • – Attend and actively participate in team meetings and reviews
  • – Support and engage young people in recreational and social activities, acting as a positive role model
  • – Plan and deliver structured evening and weekend activities, including managing small activity budgets
  • – Support outreach work and attend home visits where required
We are seeking candidates who:
  • – Hold an NVQ Level 3 in childcare or health and social care (essential)
  • – You must hold a driving license and a vehicle (desirable)
  • – Have at least 1 year of recent experience in a relevant care setting
  • – Have experience supporting children with emotional, behavioural, social difficulties, mental health needs, and complex needs
  • – Willingness to do unsociable hours
