Job summary

Health Recruit Network is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a brand-new children’s residential home in Rochdale. You will oversee opening, registration, staffing, and culture, with a focus on safeguarding and regulatory compliance.

You will drive Ofsted readiness, build strong partnerships with local authorities and families, and shape a high-performing team to deliver stable outcomes for children on a pre-permanence pathway.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience within children’s residential care.
  • Strong management experience within an Ofsted-regulated children’s home.
  • Proven track record of positive Ofsted outcomes (Good/Outstanding).
  • Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted expectations.
  • Experience recruiting, developing and retaining staff teams.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or capacity to achieve).

Registered Manager – New Children's Home

Location: Rochdale

Salary: £50,000–£60,000 DOE

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Service: New specialist children’s home

The Opportunity We are recruiting an experienced Registered Manager to lead the opening and development of a brand-new children’s residential home in Rochdale. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced children’s residential leader who wants genuine ownership of a service. You will be involved from the outset, supporting the Ofsted registration process, recruiting your team and establishing the culture, standards and practice of the home. The service will specialise in supporting children through a pre‑permanence pathway, helping them develop the stability, relationships, confidence and life skills needed to successfully transition from residential care towards fostering.

Your Role As Registered Manager, you will:
  • Lead the development, registration and opening of the new children’s home
  • Recruit, lead and develop a stable, high‑performing staff team
  • Establish a safe, nurturing and consistent environment for young people
  • Take overall responsibility for the day‑to‑day running and performance of the home
  • Ensure excellent standards of safeguarding, care planning and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain strong readiness for Ofsted inspection
  • Manage staffing, occupancy, quality and budgets effectively
  • Support young people to develop emotional resilience, relationships, routines and independence
  • Build strong working relationships with local authorities, social workers, fostering professionals and families
  • Ensure transitions into fostering are carefully planned and child‑centred
About You We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager or strong senior children’s residential leader with:
  • Significant experience within children’s residential care
  • Strong management experience within an Ofsted‑regulated children’s home
  • A proven track record of achieving positive Ofsted outcomes, ideally Good or Outstanding
  • Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted expectations
  • Experience recruiting, developing and retaining staff teams
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or the ability to achieve the qualification within the required timeframe
  • The experience and suitability required to register with Ofsted
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and achieving positive outcomes for children
  • Experience of opening or registering a new children’s home would be highly advantageous.
