Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the permanent role of Team Manager in the Children’s Disability Team. This post is based in Newcastle, covering the Newcastle and Moorlands Districts.

There are four Children’s Disability teams across the County, and they provide specialist services for children and young people with complex disabilities.These are small teams of highly dedicated Social Workers that support children and families to reach the best outcomes in a timely manner, enabling them to live their lives to the full. We also are supported by a team of skilled Family Practitioners who assist in facilitating behaviour management work and undertaking direct workFlexible working is an option and also hybrid working is in place.
Main Responsibilities
You will be:leading a team of practitioners and manage the day to day practice and the safe allocation of work.leading on the delivery of the statutory responsibilities relating to children’s safeguarding under the relevant legislation.providing the highest level of professional leadership, motivation and direction to a teamensuring that effective professional practice and supervision is delivered throughout the teamidentifying and embed service improvements through audits, quality assurance, identifying training, benchmarking and the interpretation and dissemination of legislationparticipatingand work in partnership through relevant boards, e.g. LSCB, Children’s continuing care, partnership committees, locality arrangements and other meetings as necessarymaintaining, developing and contributing to internal, local, regional, national and multi-agency partnerships to influence, support and maintain best practiceThe Ideal Candidate
You will have:experience of working at a senior level within a local authority ·Knowledge of Disability and systems that impact on this.knowledge of managing social workers and others within a single or multi-professional team ·experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams in a partnership environment · Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation in relation to the children’s’ social care system ·experience in managing budgets effectively ·proven ability to quickly build and manage strong credible stakeholder relationshipsexcellent supervision skills and an ability to enable practitioners to utilise reflective practicean ability to deal with a range of issues and conflicting demands and deadlinesproven ability to influence decision makers ·ability to work collaboratively with teams and partners.Interviews will be held during the week starting 21st July 2025Don’t feel you meet all the requirements?
