Job summary

IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Services) in Harrogate is seeking part-time staff to provide tailored support to children and families affected by domestic abuse. You will deliver trauma-informed, 1:1 and group sessions, assess risks, and coordinate multi-agency support with schools, agencies, and community groups.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, advocacy, and engagement with the Young People’s Advisory Board, in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience providing support to children and families affected by domestic abuse.
  • Ability to deliver 1:1 and group-based support using trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience coordinating multi-agency support and safeguarding practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to children, young people (aged 10-16), and their families affected by domestic abuse.
  • Deliver 1:1 and group-based support using trauma-informed approaches to help children and young people build confidence, self-esteem, and healthy relationship skills.
  • Assess needs and risks, develop safety plans, and coordinate multi-agency support for families.
  • Support parents and guardians through workshops, peer support groups, and individual sessions to understand the impact of domestic abuse on children.
  • Act as an advocate for children and families, attending school meetings, case conferences, and other forums.
  • Develop and deliver community-based programmes and online resources for families, and promote the service locally through engagement with schools, agencies, and community groups.
  • Support the Young People’s Advisory Board to ensure services reflect the voices and needs of young people.
  • Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring services are accessible and responsive to the needs of all communities, including those who are underrepresented or marginalised.
