We are looking for welcoming, friendly and approachable childcare workers who are passionate about nurturing children and creating calm, safe spaces. You’ll support children during short stays (1–2 hours or more), helping them feel settled, engaged, and cared for — even in a new environment.

You will be an integral part of building trust with mums, many of whom are using our service for the first time and need reassurance that their little ones are in warm, capable hands.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, nurturing care for children aged 6 months to 10 years during short respite sessions
• Maintain a calm, friendly environment where children feel welcome, seen and secure
• Communicate warmly with parents to build rapport and reassurance
• Keep accurate records of attendance, incidents, and activities
• Be present during familiarisation visits or taster sessions with parents
• Support the emotional needs of children and help with settling-in processes
• Collaborate with the Mamas’ Time team to deliver high-quality, community-first care
• Follow and uphold all safeguarding, health and safety, and emergency procedures

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone who is:

Observant and safety-conscious

Passionate about supporting mothers and building a stronger community

• Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or equivalent
• Enhanced DBS check (we can support the process if needed)
• Up-to-date Paediatric First Aid certificate
• Minimum 1 year experience working with children in a childcare, creche, or school setting
• Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Experience supporting children in short-term or emergency childcare
• Multilingual or experience working with diverse communities
• Understanding of trauma-informed care or mental health support for families
