Duration: 9 months initially, with a likelihood of long-term extension

Work Schedule: 36 hours per week, mandatory Court Attendance

Venn Group is working with a renowned law firm advising local authorities in South-East England to find a Locum Childcare Advocate on a locum basis for an initial 9-month role, with potential for extension.

Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEx Advocate with relevant UK practice qualifications
• Experience in public child protection law, preferably within a local authority or public sector environment
• Strong advocacy skills and ability to handle complex cases
• Deep knowledge of key legislation, including The Children Act 1989, Adoption and Children Act 2002, and Children & Families Act 2014

Responsibilities:

• Representing the local authority in various family court proceedings, including but not limited to:
• Attending court hearings and advocate meetings, sometimes outside regular working hours
• Case management
• Contested Interim Care Orders
• Fact Finding Hearings
• Final Hearings
• Applications for Emergency Protection Orders
• Placement Orders and Secure Accommodation applications under Section 25 of The Children Act 1989
