Job summary

The London Borough of Brent is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join as Deputy Team Manager in the Complex Long-Term OT Team within Adult Social Care. You will combine senior clinical expertise with strong supervisory and service development skills.

The role demands leadership, strategic oversight and the ability to manage complex cases, risk, and safeguarding while guiding practice development across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration.
• Significant post-qualification experience in Adult Social Care.
• Experience supervising, mentoring or managing staff.
• Advanced knowledge of complex moving & handling, equipment and major adaptations.
• Experience of housing-related assessments and housing/void reports.
• Strong understanding of Care Act, MCA and safeguarding frameworks.
• Experience facilitating learning and practice development.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and managerial supervision to Occupational Therapists and Advanced Practitioners.
• Lead onComplex case management including manual handling risk and equipment provision.
• Oversee major adaptations: specifications, housing reports and rehousing recommendations.
• Ensure quality assurance of complex OT assessments and safe, person-centred decisions.
• Facilitate training, mentoring and workforce development across the team.
• Lead and coordinate referral pathways, duty and triage for the team.
• Contribute to service development and partnership work.
• Deputise for the Team Manager and represent the service at meetings.
