Forest Service, part of the Northern Ireland Civil Service, seeks a Head of Forestry Division to shape forestry policy and drive climate action across Northern Ireland. The post leads a multidisciplinary team, oversees major public assets and investment, and collaborates with Ministers and senior officials across the UK and Ireland.

The role requires strategic leadership, robust stakeholder engagement, and a track record in senior forestry management.

Formación

• Degree in Forestry meeting minimum 5 points by ICF (or equivalent) as assessed by ICF.
• Membership of a recognised forestry body (e.g., ICF) or ability to achieve membership within 12 months.
• At least 3 years' strategic decision-making and policy development in forestry at senior management level, or equivalent experience leading diverse work programmes with senior stakeholders.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and advise on forestry policies and deliver Ministerial priorities through integrated strategic and operational forestry functions.
• Be influential in leading forestry work across the sector and maintain confidence of industry and stakeholders.
• Ensure programmes contribute to NI’s climate action plans and ecosystem services.
• Lead and manage a professional forestry team of ~120 across a range of roles.
