Job summary

Wellcome Sanger Institute is seeking a senior leader to head Enterprise IT Architecture within the IDS function. You will chair the Design Authority, coordinate architecture across enterprise applications, web, databases and infrastructure, and guide strategic technology choices to align with institutional objectives while managing risk and debt.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of TOGAF or other enterprise architecture frameworks.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud, data, integration, and application architecture.
• Architecture principles, standards development, and technology road mapping.
• IT risk management, technical debt management and obsolescence planning.

Responsibilities

• Chair the Technical Design Authority and coordinate enterprise, domain and solution architecture.
• Develop and maintain architecture principles, standards and roadmaps for IDS systems and applications.
• Review and approve key solution designs ensuring alignment with architectural standards and goals.
• Guide selection and adoption of new technologies with emphasis on security, scalability and sustainability.
• Oversee simplification of the technology estate to reduce technical debt and promote interoperability across the portfolio.
