Job summary

Alstom in Derby is seeking a Train Performance Manager (Chief Engineer) to ensure train performance meets customer, regulatory and operational requirements, while aligning with QCD objectives. You will be the principal technical interface with the customer and oversee performance definitions across systems throughout the project lifecycle.

This permanent, on‑site role requires leadership of system development, verification and collaboration with engineering teams, suppliers and operations.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of railway systems, products and engineering processes.
• Proven experience leading complex cross‑functional technical activities.
• Ability to balance detailed technical understanding with system‑level performance.
• Demonstrated capability to lead system‑level activities in a multi‑disciplinary project.
• Strong stakeholder management across engineering, operations, suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the primary technical interface for customer on train and system‑level performance.
• Leads train‑level system development, integration and validation activities.
• Translates customer, operator and regulatory requirements into measurable train‑level specs.
• Contributes to requirements allocation and performance target definition.
• Owns train‑level requirements and specifications per Alstom standards.
• Oversees system verification and validation to prove performance.
