Job summary

North Northamptonshire Council is seeking a Head of Building Control to provide strategic and operational leadership for Building Control, Local Land Charges and related services during a period of significant change in the built environment and local government sectors.

You will report to the Director of Regulatory Services and ensure statutory compliance, deliver high-quality customer-focused services, and lead continuous improvement across these functions.

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience within Building Control or Building Surveying.
• Strong understanding of local government and regulatory environment.
• Proven track record in transformation and service improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead Building Control and Local Land Charges services across North Northamptonshire.
• Ensure compliance with Building Safety, Building Control and Local Land Charges legislation.
• Provide expert professional advice to senior leaders and elected members.
• Lead service transformation and continuous improvement programmes.
• Manage budgets, contracts, governance, performance and risk.
• Develop commercial opportunities and increase market share.
• Drive customer excellence and innovation.
• Build and develop high-performing teams.
• Strengthen relationships with partners, regulators and developers.
