Job summary

Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital seeks a Chemotherapy Staff Nurse (Bank) on the Oncology Unit to join our team on an ad-hoc, part-time basis. You must be NMC-registered and bring post-registration chemotherapy nursing experience.

You will administer chemotherapy, monitor patients, collaborate with oncologists, educate families, and maintain precise patient records. Flexibility to work at least one day weekly is required, with support from a values-driven, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with NMC and hold nursing qualifications relevant to chemotherapy administration.
• Post-registration oncology experience preferred.
• Eligible to work in the UK with ad-hoc shift availability.
• Current SACT Passport required.

Responsibilities

• Be flexible, motivated, an excellent communicator and team worker. You need to be available at least one day a week.
• Administer chemotherapy treatments to patients according to prescribed protocols with a valid SACT Passport.
• Monitor and assess patients during and after chemotherapy sessions, ensuring their well-being.
• Collaborate with oncologists and healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on chemotherapy procedures, potential side effects, and self-care measures.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families coping with the challenges of cancer treatment.

As a Chemotherapy Staff Nurse on our Oncology Unit at Guildford Hospital, you’ll drive the standard in patient care. You’re registered with the appropriate governing body, plus you bring the qualifications and experience that are relevant to your registration, including NMC. You also have post-registration experience.

As a Chemotherapy Staff Nurse, you will:

Our facilities include 49 en-suite patient bedrooms, 4 operating theatres, acute dependency and oncology units. Our site is shared with an NHS Trust hospital, giving us access to their facilities. The working atmosphere is highly professional and stimulating, yet friendly and collaborative like that of a large family unit.

The hospital is easily accessible from the A3 or M25 and we are located about 1.5 miles from Guildford town centre.
