Job summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Practice Facilitator to lead SACT competency training and advanced clinical skills education across the Blood, Cells and Cancer directorate. The role spans inpatient haematology/oncology, day care, and transplant services, with a focus on teaching and developing staff.

Qualifications

• Recent clinical practice in relevant speciality (Haematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant/Immunology/Rheumatology/SACT).
• Experience as a mentor/assessor/supervisor.
• Experience at Band 6.
• Carrying out audit/research activities.
• Awareness of adult learning and the process of staff development.

Responsibilities

• To work with the Practice Educators in leading the teaching, training, and education of all staff.
• To work with the Practice Educators in leading the teaching, training, and education of all staff in relation to systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT).
• To be an expert IV practitioner with advanced IV therapy skills
• To work closely with the ward staff in teaching parents’ IV practice
• To support, teach and work alongside new/junior nurses encouraging the development of confidence and skills in IV therapy, SACT)/cytotoxic therapy and all aspects of nursing
• To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner
• To promote the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice
