Schlumberger Limited in Cambridge, UK is inviting a Chemistry Research Intern for 12 months starting Summer 2027 to contribute to Soft Matter for Energy Materials. The role blends experimental work in the Materials and Energy Systems group with data analysis, reporting, and collaboration across a multidisciplinary team.

You will plan and perform experiments, analyse datasets, present findings, and write technical reports while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Studying towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemistry, Physical chemistry, Physics or a related discipline.
• Good fundamental laboratory skills.
• Basic data analysis.

SLB Cambridge Research (SCR) is part of SLB’s global network of research and engineering centres.SCR is a dynamic,multidisciplinaryenvironment with state-of-the‑art research and computing facilities. We work on applied research projects in the physical sciences to meet the current and future challenges of the industry.

Description & Scope:

You will join the Materials and Energy Systems department and be involved in projects spanning a range of fields including soft matter, interfacial science, surfactant systems and polymer materials. The work will primarily be experimental and will involve application of a range of physico‑chemical techniques, both standard and developmental, to study detailed behaviour of these substances and formulations under representative conditions of use.

The majority of the work will be lab-based, carrying out experiments as well as performing the analysis and interpretation of the experimental data. The interns will work within a team of scientists as an integrated part of the team working on on‑going research projects. Candidates should be detail oriented, enjoy taking on new challenges and have good writing skills.
