Schlumberger Limited invites applications for a Mechanical Engineer Intern (12 months) starting Summer 2027 at the Stonehouse Technology Centre, Gloucestershire. You'll collaborate with engineers across functions on real-world challenges, contribute to innovative product concepts, and gain hands‑on experience with CAD tools, modelling and testing.

You will be supported through design validation, prototyping and field trials, with emphasis on reliability, cost efficiency and manufacturability in

Formación

  • Penultimate or final year student in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Materials or related field
  • Fluent oral and written English communication
  • Motivation, autonomy, teamwork and ingenuity
  • Project work experience (personal or academic)
  • Proficient in a major CAD tool and able to read 2D drawings/GD&T
  • Clear technical notes, test reports and slide updates

Responsabilidades

  • Collaborate with engineers and cross‑functional teams on real‑world challenges.
  • Support new product development through definition, validation and field trials from early requirements to prototype or commercial readiness.
  • Analyze, design and develop solution concepts with attention to feasibility, risk and cost.
  • Prove concepts via modelling or physical testing; coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and quality.
  • Utilise industry tools (e.g., ANSYS) for modelling and simulation while gaining hands‑on testing experience.

Stonehouse Technology Centre (SHTC) is the SLB drilling Centre of Excellence. It supports SLB through innovative engineering and quality-driven manufacturing, with portfolio emphasis on rotary steerable systems, Measurement While Drilling tools, Specialised Measurement tools and Rechargeable Batteries for Downhole use, and power source products.

Over 400 employees work in SHTC's modern, fit-for-purpose building in scenic Gloucestershire. The facility was constructed to handle future demand for PowerDrive tools with an efficient workflow that ensures assembled tools are extensively and rigorously tested before delivery. On site, tools can be monitored using state of-the‑art hardware and connectivity that link SHTC to all field locations.

SHTC continues Research & Development investment for new technologies, extending operational limits so that clients can reach hotter, deeper reserves.

Description & Scope:

Join our dynamic Mechanical Engineering team and gain exposure to cutting-edge projects that will challenge and inspire you!

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with passionate engineers and cross-functional teams as you work on real-world challenges that make a difference.

Support new product development by contributing to the definition, validation, and field trials of innovative solutions to product concepts, varying from early requirements through prototype or commercial readiness.

Analyze, design and develop solution concepts, evaluating the technical feasibility, risk, and cost.

Prove concepts via mathematical models, 3D modelling or physical testing. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing/operations, supply chain, and quality to align on project progression.

As part of our team, you’ll sharpen your skills using industry-leading software like ANSYS for modeling, simulation, and design, while also getting hands‑on experiences such as physical testing and fitment checks.

Together, we’ll tackle challenges in reliability, cost efficiency, maintainability, and manufacturing support, giving you the opportunity to see the direct impact of your contributions.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree - (Penultimate or Final year) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Materials or a related discipline
  • Oral and written communication skills in English
  • Good motivation, autonomy, teamwork, and ingenuity
  • Project work experience (personal or academic)
  • Basic proficiency in a major CAD tool (e.g., Creo/SolidWorks/CATIA) and ability to interpret 2D drawings/GD&T.
  • Ability to produce clear technical notes, test reports, and structured slide updates.
