Job summary

Quaker Houghton in Manchester is seeking a Fluid Analysis Chemist to perform laboratory testing, prepare and analyse customer samples, manage data, and contribute to technical problem-solving in a well-equipped analytical lab. This 6-month fixed-term contract may extend to 9 months based on business needs.

The role is fully onsite at our Manchester laboratory, with hands-on training and opportunities to work with a global industry-leading team in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum BSc in Chemistry.
• Good knowledge of wet chemistry and all aspects of Laboratory health & safety.
• 1–3 years of laboratory experience; working knowledge of GLP and COSHH.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Soft skills: safety-conscious, communication, analytical problem solving.

• Implement new or improved analytical test methods to enhance capabilities, efficiency, and accuracy.

Job description

analytical tests and determinations, in order to answer questions and address problems of customers. Accurately record, analyse and report laboratory observations and test results. Maintain equipment glassware and workspace in order to keep them clean and well-functioning. Properly dispose of all laboratory waste. Participate in ensuring good management of laboratory equipment and storage spaces for chemicals and raw materials. Comply with housekeeping rules. Provide analytical service and knowledge to internal and external customers based upon the chemists' current level of expertise. Occasionally visit customers when required to assist the Commercial team ( approx. 2 times per year). Ensure that all equipment and machines in your area of control are managed with regards to safety, maintenance, calibration, and availability. Perform project work in cooperation with a variety of internal and external contacts.

About the role

As a Fluid Analysis Chemist, you will perform laboratory testing, prepare and analyse customer samples, manage laboratory data, and contribute to technical problem-solving in a well-equipped analytical laboratory environment. We offer a 6-month Fixed Term Contract with the possibility of extension to up to 9 months, subject to business needs. Location: Fully onsite role based at our Manchester laboratory (Trafford Park)

What You Will Do?

• Under close supervision, you will execute and conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis/tests in a laboratory setting for current and/or new products.
• Implement new or improved analytical test methods to enhance capabilities, efficiency, and accuracy (repeatability & reproducibility).
• Carry out prescribed
