Job summary

Verdant Specialty Solutions in Halifax, UK, seeks an Operator to run production plants safely and efficiently, meeting schedules and targets. You will follow defined process instructions, handle bulk materials, and support maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities include QC testing, accurate record-keeping, plant handovers, safety checks, and ERP-based batch booking with forklift assistance as required. Teamwork and compliance with COSHH are critical.

Qualifications

• Experience in large volume manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of COSHH and safe handling of chemicals is essential.
• Knowledge of surfactant chemicals is advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team is essential.
• Counter balance FLT licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate production plants and equipment safely and efficiently to meet schedules.
• Handle receiving/unloading of bulk materials and packing/labeling of products as required.
• Carry out QC laboratory testing and maintain accurate process records.
• Prepare plant for maintenance and ensure proper handovers between shifts.
• Record safety, environmental, production, and housekeeping checks and audits.
• Use ERP system to book batches and monitor material, product and order status; operate forklift as needed.
• Assist maintenance or logistics teams and provide training to others as required.

Job description

Purpose of the Job

To operate all production plants and equipment in a safe, environmentally compliant and effective manner, as part of a team to meet production schedules and targets.

Responsibilities

• Follow defined process instructions and quality procedures for the manufacture of our chemical products.
• Receiving/unloading of bulk raw materials, loading/dispatch of bulk product and packing out and labelling of product as required.
• Carry out QC laboratory testing.
• To prepare the plant for maintenance work.
• Ensure that complete and accurate handover occurs between shifts.
• To take prompt and appropriate action in the event of an emergency.
• Take an active part in accident/incident investigations. Maintain a good standard of housekeeping of the plant and adjacent areas.
• Maintain good, accurate process records on time and in full.
• Conduct safety, environmental, production and housekeeping checks and audits.
• Submit maintenance requisitions and incident reports where necessary.
• Communicate effectively with line management, other departments and contractors to ensure the safe, environmentally compliant and efficient operation of the plant.
• Use of an ERP system to ensure timely booking of batches and to monitor raw material, finished product and order status. Use of Fork Lift Truck as required to meet the demands of the job.
• To assist Maintenance or Logistics team members as instructed by Team Leader/Line Management.
• To provide training of other team members as required.
• Identify potential problems and take appropriate action in co-ordination with Senior Operator and Shift Team Leader.

Working Hours

4 days on, 4 days off, Monday to Sunday, with the 4 working days consisting of 2 Day shifts (6am-6pm) and 2 Night shifts (6pm-6am).
