Job summary

Berkeley Scott is recruiting a Chef Manager for agency placements in Tamworth, covering schools and contract catering sites. You will run a busy kitchen, lead staff, prepare fresh meals and ensure high standards across education and commercial contracts.

The role pays £18.00–£24.00 per hour, with holiday pay, and offers varied exposure across sites and end-employer requirements. The ideal candidate will have kitchen leadership experience, a Food Safety Level 2 certificate and allergen awareness,

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Chef Manager, Head Chef, Sous Chef or Senior Chef
• Experience leading or supervising a kitchen team
• Contract catering or education catering experience is highly desirable
• Food Safety Level 2 certificate
• Food Allergen Awareness certificate
• Good knowledge of food safety and allergen procedures
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to confidently manage a busy kitchen
• Reliable, professional and flexible approach

Responsibilities

• Managing the day-to-day running of the kitchen
• Preparing and cooking fresh, high-quality meals
• Leading, motivating and supporting the kitchen team
• Following menus, recipes and catering requirements
• Managing stock, ordering and minimising food waste
• Ensuring food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures are followed
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen
• Supporting the wider catering operation
• Ensuring meals are delivered on time and to a high standard
• Creating a positive dining experience for students and staff
