Job summary

Berkeley Scott in Cannock is seeking a Chef Manager to oversee daily kitchen operations for school and contract catering sites. You will lead a kitchen brigade, plan menus, manage stock and ensure health and safety compliance in a busy education catering environment.

The role requires prior experience as Chef Manager or senior chef, strong leadership, and relevant food safety certifications. This temporary position offers holiday pay and agency-based work arrangements.

Chef Manager – Schools & Contract Catering

Location: Cannock


Pay: £18.00–£24.00 per hour (depending on experience and end employer)

The Chef Manager position in Cannock involves overseeing daily kitchen operations within schools and contract catering venues. This temporary placement suits candidates skilled in leading a brigade, managing food production, and maintaining rigorous standards. We’re looking for reliable, experienced and passionate chefs who are confident running a kitchen, leading a team, and producing fresh, high‑quality food in a busy catering environment. Responsibilities include menu planning, stock control, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Applicants from Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Senior Chef backgrounds are welcome. You will coordinate service schedules and deliver fresh, quality meals during term-time or operational hours. Holiday pay accompanies this contract. Previous experience in high‑volume catering is essential for this demanding leadership post.

Key Requirements


  • Previous experience as a Chef Manager, Head Chef, Sous Chef or Senior Chef

  • Contract catering or education catering experience is highly desirable

  • Food Safety Level 2 certificate

  • Food Allergen Awareness certificate

  • Good knowledge of food safety and allergen procedures

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Ability to confidently manage a busy kitchen

  • Reliable, professional and flexible approach
