Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Chef Lecturer to join a further education provider. You will deliver practical and theory sessions to learners pursuing professional cookery qualifications, bringing industry kitchen expertise into the training kitchen and classroom.

You will support learners to build technical skills, professionalism and confidence to progress into the hospitality sector, with a focus on safety, accuracy and assessment against criteria.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 qualification in professional cookery or equivalent.
• Significant occupational experience as a chef.
• Ability to deliver both practical and theory sessions.
• Desirable: teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
• Desirable: prior FE teaching or assessing experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging practical and theory professional cookery sessions.
• Plan, prepare and assess learning activities against criteria.
• Monitor learner progress and provide targeted support.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement and progress.
• Create a safe, inclusive learning environment that challenges and supports learners.

Are you an experienced chef looking to pass your skills on to the next generation?

About the Role

We're recruiting a Chef Lecturer to join a further education provider in the West Midlands. You'll deliver practical and theory sessions to learners working towards professional cookery qualifications, bringing your kitchen experience into the training kitchen and classroom.

You'll support learners to build the technical skills, professionalism and confidence they need to progress into the hospitality industry.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering engaging practical and theory professional cookery sessions.
• Planning, preparing and assessing learning activities against assessment criteria.
• Monitoring learner progress and putting support in place where it's needed.
• Maintaining accurate records of attendance, achievement and progress.
• Creating a safe, inclusive learning environment in which every learner is challenged and supported.

What We’re Looking For

• A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in professional cookery or a closely related discipline
• Occupational experience as a chef
• Confidence delivering both practical and theory sessions

Desirable (but not essential):

• A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
• Previous experience teaching or assessing in a further education setting
