Job summary

Pentole & Padelle in Central London is seeking an experienced Chef de Rang to join our independent Italian restaurant known for fresh pasta and an attentive, VIP-style guest experience. You will look after your own section, deliver knowledgeable recommendations on food and wines, and work closely with the kitchen and bar to ensure a professional, memorable dining experience from arrival to departure.

This full-time role offers £15–£18 per hour, plus tronc/service charge and cash tips.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years' experience in a similar quality restaurant environment.
• Proven experience working as a Chef de Rang / Senior Waiter.
• Good knowledge of Italian cuisine and Italian food products.
• Good knowledge of Italian wines and aperitivi.
• Completed allergen training and a strong understanding of food allergies.
• Ability to independently manage your own section.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Good attention to detail and calm under pressure.
• Good English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Taking full responsibility for your own section.
• Welcoming and looking after guests throughout their entire dining experience.
• Demonstrating excellent knowledge of Italian food and ingredients.
• Understanding and confidently communicating food allergies and allergens to guests.
• Taking accurate orders and ensuring they are communicated correctly to the kitchen and bar.
• Providing knowledgeable recommendations on food, Italian wines and aperitivi.
• Being able to explain dishes, ingredients and preparation methods clearly.
• Maintaining a high level of service throughout the meal.
• Anticipating guests' needs rather than simply reacting to requests.
• Ensuring tables and your section are consistently presented to a high standard.
• Working closely with the kitchen, bar and management team.
• Handling busy services calmly, professionally and efficiently.
• Maintaining our standards of hospitality, presentation and attention to detail.
